Ukraine's revolution

A revolution in Ukrain took place in February 2014 after a series of violent events in the capital of Kiev culminated whit the ousting of the then President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych. This was immediately followed by a series of changes in quick succession in Ukraine's sociopolitical sistem, including the restoration of an older version of the constitution. Before the revolution, Ukraine had been mired by years of corruption, lack of economic growth and currency devaluation so Yanukovych sought to estabilish closer relations whit the Europen Union and Russia in order to attract the capital necessary to maintain Ukraine's standard of living whitout affecting the local population significatly. But at the population this didn't like so decided to start a revolution. As tensions rose,Yanukovych fled the country and has not returned. Russia has accused the United States and the European Union of founding and directing the revolution. After the revolution, Russia refused to recognize the new interim government seizing control of the Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine. The revolution was followed by protests in its south-eastern regions, a dispute whit Russia regarding the accession of Crimea and Sevastapol into the Russian federation, and the amazing of Russian troops near Ukraine's borders.
